New Zealand

A short trip across the Tasman to the land of the kiwi, lots of sheep, overzealous camp rangers and more importantly a bunch of long, rocky left hand waves. A sweet as sample of some New Zealand windsurfing. I'll be back.

Social Wavesailing Days

It was decided to make the most of a solid forecast lining up across a weekend in early January. With a small to medium sized swell and nice South Easterly winds, things were looking great for a wave sailing social event at Woolamai, Phillip Island. With a few days notice, some interest was whipped up with crew from SHQ Boardsports and Sup Wind Surf hosting the day.

Island Hopping

Late last year we were lucky enough to jump on a plane to the Whitsundays and cruise around the area on a 79ft yacht for nearly a week. This may sound like a dream come true, (and there is no denying it is pretty awesome) but you have to really think about what is doable in terms of equipment. Living on a boat is not easy – and you are definitely going have to pack light.

Shipwreck Rock

Drifting into the line up, gives me plenty of time to watch an awesome looking set grind through the end bowl of the wave. Logo high, totally barrelling. Waves like that usually belong in the tropics somewhere like Mauritius or Gnaraloo.
