Two clips showing two different faces of Surfies Point at Phillip Island.
Surfies Point is probably the most consistent spot over the Victorian winter to sail big waves.
The common W-NW frontal systems during the cooler months are often accompanied by at least a medium sized swell, all the way up to gigantic.
These two Surftrax clips show Phillip Island local Jono sailing in conditions at the opposite end of the spectrum – small swell, light wind down the line riding with a high tide, followed by pretty big and howling Surfies.
At that sort of size it packs a serious punch and can easily eat you and your gear.
For any Victorian windsurfers who want to push their comfort zone and get exposed to some bigger and more powerful down the line conditions – I recommend giving it a crack.
These two videos are great to understand what you’re in for when you tackle ‘The Point’.
