Late Feb and March are my favourite times to hang around Victoria. Frequent world class wavesailing can be had on our surf beaches, whenever a South Easterly breeze lines up with some swell and a good left hand bank on Phillip Island or the Mornington Peninsula.

My general rule is, Gunnamatta when you are short on time or the swell is small. It is just a bit more convenient than Woolamai.

When you have the time, or the sand banks are better, Woolamai always offers cleaner waves thanks to the big cape at the southern end of the beach.

Both beaches can be epic on their day.

These were classic late summer days at Woolamai. 2-4ft of swell, 20-25 knots of wind and some fun left handers scattered up and down the beach.

The best part is, a proper E-SE airflow means you will normally get two or three days in a row of conditions. The first day always has the better wind and swell!
